Stefan Everts zu GP Namur

Wahnsinn! Alle bisherigen WM-Läufe gewonnen. Everts sichert sich frühzeitig den WM-Titel und strebt nun die perfekte Saison an: Alle WM-Läufe gewinnen: “What a great day. I never dared dream of becoming World Champion here at Namur. It has always been a very special place with a special atmosphere. It is a unique track that is hard and demanding. Both races went pretty good. At one point there was a difficult moment for me in each moto because the terrain was so bumpy, slippery and so rough. I had to be really careful because this is one of the hardest circuits in the world and you can only really appreciate it if you get out there and try forty minutes. The motos worked out well though and I am so happy for my 99th victory and the Championship. I had such an exciting feeling going out on the track and unfortunately it is my last time here but I cannot think of a better way to go out. What else can I say?”

Stefan Everts zu GP Loket

"It has been a hard GP for me. The track was not that difficult in the layout and you could see that by how fast everyone was going. The next few tracks will be more technical and better for me. Josh was riding well in that first moto. There were a few places on the track where I did not have such good lines and he was closing the gap but it is hard to know the full situation when you are in front. In the end I figured out a few places where I could improve and I think he must have made a mistake but it was quite easy to win that moto finally. My start wasn't that good in the second race and for a few laps I was in third position with Jonathan and Kevin having a small lead. I had to try hard to pass them both and it was tough, but it was also nice not having to always be working from first position. The new section around the back of the pits was very difficult and it was a place where you could make or lose some ground."

Joshua Coppins unterschreibt bei Yamaha

Yamaha richtet sich in der MX1 Klasse auf die Zeit nach Everts ein. Obwohl Everts dieses Jahr die WM komplett dominiert, wird es definitiv seine Letzte sein. Daher stellt Yamaha mit der Verpflichung von Coppins die Weichen für 2007. Coppins zu der Verpflichtung: " I'm really happy to be back with the brand where it all started with. I won my first race aged six on a PW50 and I have competed on Yamahas for more than ten years, winning many races, so I know from my own experience they make great machines. Seeing the successes of the YZ450 it clearly is the bike to have in the MX1 class. Ergnisse MX1 GP Uddevalla

Mehr als 100 Punkte Vorsprung hat nun Stefan Everts nach dem Rennen in  Uddevalla, Schweden.  Der Titel ist ihm wohl nicht mehr zu nehmen. Ich bin sehr gespannt, ob dies wirklich die letzte Saison sein wird; bei dieser Erfolgsserie wird es ihn bestimmt auch für 2007 reizen. Aber wie heißt es: Auf dem Höhepunkt abzutreten, macht den wirklichen Meister aus. Hier der Rennkommentar von Stefan Everts: "This is not my favourite track here in Sweden so I knew it would be tough because in the past two years I had been struggling. However I took a good pole when everybody was close together and the first race went OK. Barragan kept close and I had a three second lead but I made a mistake in the whoops and he caught up, then we were into the lappers. It was tight at the end and I felt a bit tired because of the heat. I rested in between the races and then the second one was better. After the mistake the first few laps were pretty hard because everyone was going fast and it was not easy to pass. I saw the Suzuki guys pull away and I thought second might be possible but first was a long shot. At one stage Steve stopped gaining seconds on me and then started to lose them; that gave me some wings! I pulled harder and it was close. It was exciting for the crowd."
