MotoGP Video - Hayden & Pedrosa Crash

Auch nach 72 Stunden ist es mir vollkommen unverständlich, wie es zu so einer Situation kommen kann. Da gibt Honda Millionen von $ aus, um Weltmeister zu werden, Hayden zum Asketen mutiert und dann sind die nicht in der Lage eine Stallorder auszusprechen. Dabei müßte doch klar sein, dass die beiden einfach junge Fahrer sind, die noch Führung brauchen. Nicht zu fassen!

“What can I say? I made a mistake and I’m really sorry. It’s the first time I’ve hit another rider in my career – it’s never happened before in practice or racing in six years and it’s happened at the worst moment that I could do it. Obviously I’m very unhappy and Nicky is not happy and I just want to apologize because I made a mistake. I said sorry to Nicky and that I can understand that he is very upset – I wish I could change it. I didn’t want to pass him at that moment. I braked and my rear wheel came off the ground and then it touched the ground again I got a little more speed and I couldn’t stop the bike and there was nowhere to go. I have a fracture in my little finger but we have time for it to be ok for Valencia.”

“The result is very good. The big decision today was whether or not I would race, and until the last moment I was still in doubt about it. We chose to race and they gave me one injection to take away the pain. Although I felt the stitches pressing under my leathers, the pain on my knee was gone. In the race my left foot hurt, and so did my left knee but in the right knee I felt no pain. I got a good start but I was expecting the leaders to pull away and I also expecting the lap times to be a little faster than they were. At the end I was very tired – my bike had just the basic set-up because I lost time in practice so I was riding on the limit in the race. In the end I got the result – that’s the important thing. Also I was lucky that the qualifying practice was cancelled – to start from fifth on the grid was really, really important for me today. I have to say thank you to all the guys in the Clinica Mobile because they worked very hard for me and made me believe I could race. They took so much care of me – it was a very special job. Also to my team because they helped me to race. Thank you to everybody and I will not forget this day.”

"Third was good for me seeing as I started from ninth. I made a good start, although it could have been better. And I was strong on the brakes and could overtake. When I caught Valentino I waited because it was quite early in the race and Capirossi was already gone. We made some good moves, all very aggressive. We were pushing hard, but I made a mistake, lost a second and could not recover the time.”

“In terms of conditions, this was the hardest race I’ve competed in. It was so difficult to ride at a consistent rhythm. At the start I braked a little early and lost a couple of places. And then when I was recovering and moving up I made a mistake and lost the places again so this was tough at the beginning. Toller Erfolg von Dani Pedrosa. Wir sollten nicht vergessen, dies ist seine erste Saison: 

“I’m happy because this was almost the perfect weekend the team did a great job in every session. When I tried to overtake Marco I braked but I couldn’t stop the machine so I was getting closer and closer to him and he was about to turn in. I was saying, ‘please leave room!’ and luckily he did. Then I was able to get back in front. I didn’t know at that point if I could open up a gap because this class is really close, but at the end I slowed down a little bit to be careful. I think the English crowd enjoyed the race, and this British weather is really good!”

Dani Pedrosa zu GP Assen

“I lost a lot of time at the beginning of the race, especially battling with Melandri. On the last lap Stoner tried to overtake me and in the last section I re-overtook him and we almost touched once so it was pretty close. Nicky and Colin’s pace was a bit faster than mine so I think third position is good for the team, and I was also lucky because Colin crashed at the last corner and gave me the final place on the podium.” Glück gehabt!

“What can I say? I think today was not my day. We were very unlucky at the first start – but even in that moment I was the lucky one because I was totally unhurt after the crash, and that’s the most important thing. But also the other lucky thing was that I could take part in the second race. We had some more problems at the restart with Vermeulen and the race was restarted again. So I think there was too much confusion this caused me to lose a little bit of concentration - and I was nervous too by now. I made a bad start second time round but I was actually quite calm to make my way through the field and overtake one by one. Dani Pedrosa zu GP LeMans

Third-placed Pedrosa said, “When I took the lead I knew they were catching me and I knew I would only lead for two or three laps. On one lap I made two mistakes and I realized I was going slowly whilst on the limit. So I decided I didn't want to crash like in the race in Turkey and I closed the throttle and focused on finishing the race. But the result is good and we must stay consistent and learn from this.”

“Fourth place feels pretty damn good,” said Stoner in fourth. “And again I’ve answered the people who said I couldn’t race on worn tyres. The battle with Nicky was great, it was a clean fight, but unfortunately I nearly took him out at the start of race – I’m sorry for that, I just missed my braking a little. By mid-race the bike started to feel more comfortable so I pushed and started to catch the leaders.” Quelle
