“I don’t know if I lost the rear in the middle of the corner, it seemed to slip a little bit, and as it came back it flicked out on me. All I remember is another bike hitting me and feeling that pretty hard. I’ve got no idea exactly what happened. I think Sete’s bike smacked into the lower part of my right leg, it’s very sore, and I hope nothing is broken. My rear tyre wasn’t gripping the best and it was easy to stay with the leaders, I was waiting to start making a move but I didn’t get a chance.”

“I’m not feeling the best, I had a lot of pain in my back from halfway through the race. I couldn’t move my bum across the seat to change direction -- the team did their job today, I could not have asked for more, and I just did not deliver on my side. I think I had a chance at the podium, especially when I was right on Hayden’s butt early in the race. Then Nicky braked early into the final corner and I nearly hit him, he pulled a gap, and five laps later I was worn out.
I was really struggling into the corners under brakes, I had to use my upper body too much. The problem started when I jinked my back as the bike wobbled under brakes, up until then I was gaining on the guys in front.”

“That was hard race,” sagt Stoner. “There was a lot of overtaking going on sometimes three times in one lap. But I didn’t have enough rear tyre left to race for fourth place. They’d already destroyed themselves when I was behind Hayden. That was close racing and while I would have liked a better result sixth will have to do for now. I really needed an extra Red Bull this morning.”

“Everything felt fine and I had a race set-up good enough to be running up front. I just made a small mistake and as I let the brake off for turn five the front just slid away. I knew I had to conserve the tyres early in the race, but once I got in front of Dani and Kenny it was no problem, I just concentrated on running a strong pace and not going to hard. I really want to say a big thank you to everyone in the LCR team who’ve worked so hard all season to keep us running up front. I’m the one who has not delivered on my side.”

“I got a good start and then got shuffled back by the Suzuki’s. I thought I could pull it back but they tyre didn’t want to seem to kick in. I had a hard time finding enough drive. I was a bit far away at the end but we’ve just got to keep going the way we are. “I made a good start but got blocked by another rider. Then I got a good pace going and got fifth and then Dani came past so I was happy to sit in behind him for few laps. Dani was a little slower than me but hard to pass, then I made a mistake on the final lap, which allowed Dani to get past again. “I’m not happy, not just because I made a mistake but because of everything that happened today. I’m feeling for all the guys who crashed and it wasn’t a good situation during the stoppage, I saw all the incidents on replay. I made a very good start and I was doing it easy, even though the track was a bit slick today. When Valentino came past I was happy to do my own pace and wait for the race to unfold, I was feeling comfortable. Quelle: honda.com

MotoGP - Stoner 2006 auf Honda

Obwohl schon fasst alle in den wohlverdienten Weihnachtsurlaub sind, tut sich noch auf dem Transfermarkt was. Wie motoGP.com berichtet, fährt Stoner im Team Cecchinello. Dadurch, dass Biaggi bei Pons nicht unter kam, wurde eine Maschine frei. Dass sich so spät im Jahr noch was tut, ist selten. Stoner wird sich freuen.
